These spurtles have been hand turned out of 1 piece of Sustainably harvested Ontario Sugar Maple.

The spurtle (or "spirtle") is a traditional Scottish kitchen tool used for stirring perfect porridge. This utensil dates back from at least the fifteenth century. The rod-like shape is designed for constant stirring which prevents the porridge from congealing and so becoming lumpy. Now a days spurtles are used for anything (including as magic wands) and I love to hear from customers about how they have been putting them to use (I hear they are great for spaghetti / noodles)!

Because they are all lovingly made by hand, each spurtle is a bit different. They are finished with food safe raw linseed oil and arrive ready for action.

  • Length; approximately 10-1/2"
